Autumn is upon us here at Refugio Ranch, and as the wild turkeys patrol the property we are reminded of the power and spirit of Mother Nature. 2015 was an unprecendented harvest for the Santa Ynez Valley and much of California. Due to the drought, it was the earliest harvest on record, and although yields are down, the fruit quality and juice in barrel are exceptional! We always look forward to this time of year as the time for holiday gatherings of family & friends, food & wine.

Ineseño - the red wine drinker's white.
This is our favorite wine to pair with that nip in the air and savory foods rich with herbs and spices. Ineseño is our signature white Rhone blend of Roussanne and Viognier. It is one of the first three wines ever produced at Refugio Ranch, and we consider it one of our flagships. In the words of Winemaker Ryan Deovlet:
"Our Ineseño blend is a bright golden sunshine in color, with dominant spicy aromatics of clove and nutmeg, complimented by sweeter flavors of almond extract, browned butter and graham cracker pie crust, combined with more savory sage, herbes de provence, and dry-cured ham. This blend stands with broad shoulders, and without apologies, full throttled Santa Ynez Valley with grace and charm."

 For the first time ever we are presenting an Ineseño Vertical, comprised of the very first vintage produced in 2009, followed by the 2010, 2011 & 2012 vintages. The Ineseño Vertical is on offer November 1st through Thanksgiving Day on November 24th.
Given the very limited supply, we will fill orders on a first-come-first-serve basis.

"Ineseño" is an old term referring to folks from Santa Ynez (Ines). The label image was designed by the Gleason family's son, Max, and is taken from this photograph. Here we see the Gleason girls - mother Niki, flanked by her daughters Callie & Mara, strolling through the vineyard.
