This is the philosophy that guided the production of our first ever, 2011 Time for Time extended élevage Syrah. An extraordinary lot from the 2011 harvest, the fruit is harvested from Syrah block 14 clone 174, and co-fermented with 8% Viognier to provide aromatic lift. The wine was aged in one 300L Meyrieux barrel for 40 months (as opposed to our standard 20 months for Syrah). This extended aging provides a density and elegance that is truly sublime. Deeply concentrated from its time in barrel, for all its richness the wine boasts refined tannins that are elegant and seamless on the palate. This is the most exclusive, cult wine from Refugio Ranch with only one barrel produced.
